Completed Socks

Fresh off the needles.  I  enjoyed making these.  My knitting experience is limited and the rib stitch for the leg was just complicated enough to keep me interested but not so complicated that I needed to keep checking a chart.  This is only my third pair of socks and I'm still not totally confident in the heel and toe.  I think these socks will be very warm.

The next socks will be another over-all pattern on the leg and top of the foot.  But, it's time to get back to quilting.  This was a good diversion and now I'm itching to get back to hand quilting.

  1. These socks look great! I have only made one pair of socks, but they really are my favorite pair.

  2. Thanks. I've got 3 now. They are very warm. I'm trying to replace my store bought favorites that my DH (who does the laundry) absolutely hates because they shed too much. I just told him that I need more sock yarn if he wants me to get rid of those socks he hates.

  3. Great looking socks! May I ask what pattern you used and how many stitches you cast on? Thanks!

    1. Thanks. I used the 8-stitches per inch general pattern from Ann Budd's book 'Getting Started Knitting Socks' with a seeded rib pattern for the leg that was described later in the book. The rib pattern is a simple 4-stitch repeat that is different on odd and even rows. I cast on 64 stitches for my size 8 1/2 feet.
